Summer Anime 2016 Preview: Battery

Every fan of sports anime should note 15 July 2016 as a very important date, as this is when Battery anime is airing. Produced by Fuji TV and based on the bestselling light novels by Atsuko Asano, the series focuses on one of Japan’s favourite sports – baseball – and promises a lot of Slice of Life drama.
It remains to be seen whether Battery will become the new Kuroko no Basket, but there surely is a niche for baseball in sports anime, so why not give it a go?

The Story

Just like the battery works thanks to its positive and negative poles, in life and sports, competition is what keeps you going. This is a truth that baseball star Takumi Harada had to learn the hard way. Being a sports prodigy before even entering junior high is hard enough, but not having someone to compete with is something that can make you despair and even give up your dreams. However, life works in mysterious ways, so maybe the small town of Nitta, where the Haradas have just moved in after leaving Australia, is hiding a big catcher to match Takumi’s phenomenal pitching skills.
