Oscars 2015: Kaguya-hime no Monogatari and Isao Takahata Nominated
The Oscars 2015 nominations are finally announced and I cannot be less than happy to see Kaguya-hime no Monogatari listed in the category for Best Animated Feature Film. The project by Isao Takahata and Studio Ghibli was one of the two biggest and most excitedly expected movies to come out in 2014 (alongside Hayo MIyazaki’s last directorial project Kaze Tachinu).

The nomination is the only Japanese project in the list of all competing for the Academy Awards this year. Nonetheless, there is a high probability that Isao Takahata and Yoshiaki Nishimura will receive the honours as the movie did gain a lot of positive feedback on the traditional and unusual art style and animation techniques.
Here is the full list of nominees in this category:
Big Hero 6
Don Hall, Chris Williams and Roy Conli
The Boxtrolls
Anthony Stacchi, Graham Annable and Travis Knight
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Dean DeBlois and Bonnie Arnold
Song of the Sea
Tomm Moore and Paul Young
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
Isao Takahata and Yoshiaki Nishimura
The 87th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on 22nd February 2015 in Los Angeles, California.
