David Production Becomes a Fuji TV Subsidiary

フジテレビジョン Fuji TV has purchased Japanese animation studio David Production (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Level E, Ben-to). The contract is valid starting 1st August. This will not cease any ongoing productions by David.

Apart from the pretty popular adaptations of Hirohiko Araki’s manga, other shows by the same studio are The Book of Bantorra, Ristorante Paradiso, Dogs: Bullets and Carnage and Inu x Boku Secret Service.

A few are aware that David Production was actually made by several former GONZO staff members back in 2007. Hopefully, the change will also bring something to the overseas fans (from Japanese POV) as Fuji TV announced they plan to expand the studio’s distribution abroad.

Things could surely go from good to better with this move. Do you think this will be the direction?

  1. Oh wow! I guess now we’re going to see more of their quite cool projects abroad! More money for them, means more projects by them. Can’t find anything to complain about this.
