Say “Bye-Bye” to C3-Bu

Ikoma and Tomomoka Midori’s original manga Tokurei Sochi Dantai Stella Jo-Gakuin Koto-ka C3-Bu will be ending in December. The last chapter will appear in Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine on 11th December. The story was adapted by studio Gainax earlier this year.

C3-Bu manga is created in the form of shorts which revolve around cute schoolgirls who love to play survival games and shoot with various pretend-weapons such as airsoft and BB guns. They are all a part of Stella Academy for Girls’ “C3” club. We join the story with the arrival of a new student in the academy. Her name is Yura and she joins in on the fun invited by the new club head – Sonora. Karira and Honoka are also in the club. Rento and Yachiyo, who are both new members.
The project began in May last year and has since been adapted into a TV anime series, which premiered in July this year and will be distributed in North America by Sentai Filmworks.

Many fans hoped that the manga will be able to continue after the anime adaptation, but after its end, a lot of them actually blamed the studio for butchering the story and characters. Who’s wrong and who’s right I cannot say, but one thing is for sure – the anime surely didn’t make an army of trusty fans go swarming to the bookstores.
