Five Star Stories by Mamoru Nagano Back for the 27th Anniversary

After being off the pages of Kadokawa Shoten’s monthly Newtype magazine for about 9 years, Mamoru Nagano’s “Five Star Stories” (a.k.a. Five Star Monogatari) is back.

The stories are a famous Japanese series that started in the distant 1986 and after small and medium-sized hiatuses went on a presumably permanent one in 2004. This upcoming month, though, in may 2013, the new Newtype issue will come out with an entirely original story.

This is definitely one great way to celebrate the 27th anniversary!

The author and mangaka of the series is a notable mecha designer and a renowned name in the field of electronic and human-driven robot illustrations as well as machinery as a whole. The Five Star Stories itself is also a title that many mecha fans know as a source of originality and a reason to become a great fan of the genre.

The plot of the manga revolves around a battle of good versus evil as darkness stands against light in the face of God Amaterasu. He is also the one meant to rule over the entire Joker Galaxy, but a lot stands in his way…

  1. Unlike all of the comments here, I have to say that… even though I absolutely respect what this person has done for the mecha art and so on, I don’t care about his manga being back.
I think we need more thriller and horror (without as many moe/ecchi and girls as a whole)

  2. One of my dearest people has given me Nagano-sensei’s art book as a gift once and I have become fascinated with it, so I am really happy he’s working once again :) Thank you for the great news.
