Blood-C: The Last Dark Acknowledged at Fantasia Film Fest

blood-c the last dark posterBlood-C: The Last Dark has been fully acknowledged at the recent Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal. The L’Écran Fantastique Prize was awarded to the production because of the textures, the “”horrifying Lovecraftian bestiary” and attention to lighting.

Other Japanese productions that were cherished at the event were:

*Takashii Mike’s live-action “Ace Attorney”

won the Audience Award for Best Asian Feature

*Toei Animation and Keiichi Satou’s “Asura” and “A Letter to Momo”

tied for the Audience Award for Best Animated Feature

From this year, the jury award in the festival is renamed after the renowned Japanese animator, director and creator Kon Satoshi. This year’s Satoshi Kon Award for Achievement in Animation was given to Yeon Sang-ho’s “The King of Pigs”

Many Japanese productions including Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King and Space Battleship Yamato were screened at the event which lasted for three whole weeks between July 19 and August 7, 2012.
