Hajime no Ippo’s Mangaka With a New Porject after 22 Years

ai ni iku yo george morikawaThe new series, entitled “Ai ni Iku yo“, will centre around the volunteer works during ad after the events from March 11, 2011 in Northeastern Japan. The news was announced through the author’s official Twitter account. The new series by George Morikawa will begin in issue number 31 of Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine.

The upcoming manga will be based on the original picture book Ue wo Muite Arukou by Nobumi, which is a sort of documentary and autobiographical work from his days as a volunteer worker in the areas affected by the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and the following tsunami.

Ai ni Iku Yo will be a short manga with only 5 chapters, but at least will be something new from one of the most famous mangaka. Hajime no Ippo was created 22 years ago and we have all been waiting for a new project by George Morikawa.
