Hakuouki with OVA, 3rd Season and 2 Movies

Hakuouki, the supernatural, vampire-themed shoujo anime that is telling the life of the Shinsengumi will be getting a third season! Happy already? Wait because there is even more: an OVA and two separate movies are coming up too! See below for additional details.

The news of the three upcoming projects related to the exceptionally popular historical shoujo was announced at a special event held at the Pacifico Yokohama centre. Here are the details in order:

OVA: Kazama Chikage (to ship in June) – it will be a story viewed from the point of Kazama.

3rd season: Hakuouki Reimeiroku – expected to come out later this year. There is little information about it, but judging from the fact that (almost?) all of the main characters died at the end of season two, it will probably a prequel to the main story (before the appearance of the inserted female character) or somewhere in between the story of the past 2 seasons. OP by Maon Kurosaki and ED by Mao.

Two-part film project: (to come out next year) – to tell an entirely new and different story. Aika Yoshioka to perform the theme song.

This is a part of a really intensive promotion for the franchise. Other sides of this campaign include: “Hakuouki in Namja Town” in Ikebukuro Shunshine 30 mall in Tokyo (April 30 to May 27th). ASCII’s Media Works (Dengeki Girl’s Style magazine), on the other hand, will soon update us on the new game’s development. The infrmation will supposedly appear on the official website too.

    1. I am asking myself “why?!”… was about to post it in the title of the news, but… decided to rpesent it entirely objectively. I don’t get it how could they ruin the history and name of the Shinsengumi like this. Yes, they definitely had a bunch of females running after them, but this is not such a case… And .. vampires? At the end of season 1, I think, when they started turning to supernatural creatures, I was ashamed to have watched this. Okita Souji died! Yes – he died. No matter how much you wish to prolong a story, you cannot run from reality, if you want to make a historical anime, that is.

      1. I know what you mean. I feel the same way. Why should they use the name of the Shinsengumi?! Do whatever rubbish show you want, but do not disrespect history!
