Medaka Box Manga to Get Anime, Novel

In the 50th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump magazine, the one who has given life and form to many of today’s biggest anime’s original manga series, was announced that the Medaka Box school comedy manga with lots of action will get an own anime television adaptation.  The original story by writer NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki  is also being adapted into a new novel.

Some of the staff for the upcoming anime, with no specific dates for the premiere, has also been announced.In charge of directing will stand Shouji Saeki, the professional behind such shows as This Ugly yet Beautiful World and He Is My Master. The character design for the series is trusted to Ikuo Kuwana (key animation in Princess Mononoke, Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood’s End- and Fullmetal Alchemist the series).

The story revolves around Medaka Kurokami, a strong and very active school girl in Hanokiwa Academy who is also the chief of the council in the school. Due to her newly installed suggestion box, the entire council including other members Zenkichi, Akune, and Kikaijima, has to fight various enemies in order to help the academy into a better and more comfortable existence. The types of battles Medaka and her colleagues have to fight vary from bacteries to supernatural invaders.

  1. The Medaka Box is a cute idea – a place to share all your problems with people, who would actually love to help you. I really wish there was such a School Council… ;)
