End of the World in 2012? There’s no Such Thing for Goro Miyazaki!

Studio Ghibli’s very own Goro Miyazaki (the son of everyone’s favourite director and creator Hayao Miyazaki) has announced that new works of his can be presented, but not sooner than 2013. The good news is that Mr. Miyazaki jr. does not care about the end of the world foreseen by the Aztec Sun God Calendar. The bad news is that we are already craving for more recent releases of Ghibli, even after Karigurashi no Arriety and From up on Poppy Hill. The announcement about his new creation was made n Friday at central Japan’s Matsumoto City Museum of Art where the Studio Ghibli layout art exhibition is being held.

According to the information given by Goro Miyazaki, the project is already in the making and the one in charge fr now is Hayao Miyazaki, his father and the man behind some of Ghibli’s most popular and meaningful movies. Let’s not forget that Goro-sensei has been the topic of most discussions with his first movie – Tales from Earthsea, which turned out to be quite unliked by most Ghibli fans. He recharged and returned with a better show entitled From Up on Poppy Hill that was not only the highest grossing domestic movie of the year in Japan, but also a favourite of a lot.

Another one of the studio’s co-founders, Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Only Yesterday) has also said that he is working n a new project. It too it set to be released in about two years’ time.
