One Piece and Z Gundam are a Crime… if they’re pirated

Chiba prefecture’s Cyber Crime Task Force has arrested a local company employee. He was accused of selling 14 pirated copies of the popular Japanese anime series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and One Piece: Episode of Chopper + Fuyu ni Saku, Kiseki no Sakura. The deal was sealed when his two buyers gave him 4,780 JPY (around 44.29€) for the items. The arrest happened on September 1, 2011.

On May 13, when the police searched his home and confiscated his computer and other connected electrical devices, it has come to be known that he has sold over 300,000 JPY (about 2,780€) worth of pirated disks.
The man has admitted to making money, consciously, by selling the illegal DVDs.

    1. yeha… and imagine if he is just one of many… ANime and manga industry are losing over 5000€ a year from the smaller guys, what about the others? This is one of the main reasons for people being afraid that anime and manga will disappear. I hope, as a shinigami, I would be able to keep it safe! :S

Also… cheap? Yeah… but that’s the idea of piracy, isn’t it? Selling it cheap so that the cheapskates will buy it instead of the originals?
