The first ever Newtype Anime Awards, held in Tokushima on Saturday, October 08, 2011. These was the start of a hopefully long-lasting tradition of anime awards. There are 21 categories including best male character, best female character, best mascot character, Soundtrack, Theme Song, Directing, Scenario, Art, Effects and the unique Best Female and Male seiyuu awards. Why unique? Because they are the first of the kind that are not rewarded for a specific role, but for an all-round impression of the voice actors.

Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and Karin from Naruto to be at London MCM Expo

We Heart Japan – Performance for Disaster Relief

The “We Heart Performing for Japan” event will happen in October. Participants will be voice actress Mari Iijima (The Super Dimension Fortress Macross) and there will also be a special service for the fan by the original English cast of an unannounced classic anime series. The cast will reunite for an episode-reading.

Lucky Star seiyuu to Act in the New Ad Lib Anime Kenkyūsho

Kobe Awards – WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!

The 16th Animation Kobe Awards winners have just been announced on Friday! They are the most prestigious and popular prizes given by acknowledged representatives of the animation and media industry in Japan. Notably, they are editors in specialized animation and media magazines such as Animage, Animedia, Newtype and Weekly ASCII.
Here is the list:

Individual Award: Mari Okada (writer)

Special Award: Osamu Dezaki (director)

Detective Conan Production Team

Theatrical Film Award: Macross Frontier: Sayonara no Tsubasa

Television award: Hetalia: World Series

Theme Song Award: “Shinryaku No Susume ☆” by ULTRA-PRISM with Ika Musume (Hisao Kanemoto)

An award ceremony shall be held on October 16, 2011in Kobe, Eastern Japan.
