Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru, which translates roughly to A Corpse, Buried Under Sakurako’s Feet, will be animated. The news were announced earlier today in the Kadokawa publication (volume seven of the story). The story reveals various mysteries and is often quoted by otaku as the most notable title in the genre, currently.
Sakurako-san no Ashimoto ni wa Shitai ga Umatteiru was first published in 2013 and has since gone way over the 600,000 copies sold across the land. It is written by Shiori Ohta and illustrated by Tetsuo. The story centres on Shoutarou Tatewaki (a high-school student who mainly thinks and talks about his 20y.o. girlfriend) and Sakurako Kujyou (the girlfriend, who is also an anthropologist and a mystery-freak).
The official website is entitled “Sakurako-san”, but it is still not known if this will be the full title of the upcoming animated project. Also, the production is yet unknown when it comes to the very format in which it will be – TV series, movie(s) or OVA.
Do you think we need a bit more mystery in anime?
