Studio WIT, the animators and directors behind the super famous anime TV series Shingeki no Kyojin (a.k.a. Attack on Titan), are working on two new projects. They are CAPCOM’s Sengoku Basara 4 and the adaptation of Natsumi Eguchi’s manga Hoozuki no Reitetsu.
Although the Studio WIT panel at this October’s MCM Comic Con passed rather uneventful and dull (opinion of many people who went there) and rather disappointing because all the representatives from the UK wanted to talk about was their newly licensed anime movie Hal by WIT, news about the animators’ upcoming projects emerged.
Natsumi Eguchi’s supernatural manga Hoozuki no Reitetsu focuses on the daily life of the Great Yama’s deputy Hoozuki and his friends, subordinates and enemies. Hoozuki is the second-in-command in the Underworld (Hell). He is also a very sadistic, cool and calm existence. This manga was nominated for the Taisho Manga Awards 2012. Directing at WIT will be Hiro Kaburaki whith Norihiro Naganuma as the assistant director. Both have worked on Kimi ni Todoke and My Little Monster. Guilty Crown’s Midori Gotou will be in charge of the scripts while Hal’s Hirotaka Katou will provide the character designs.
Sengoku Basara 4 Hyakka Ryouran Tamatebako, on the other hand, is the upcoming new installment in CAPCOM’s multiselling samurai franchise. It will go on sale in Japan starting 23rd January for the PS3 version and it will cost 8,790 Japanese yen as a set (character design book, storyboard book, alternate jacket and a custom theme alongside the game) and 6,990 Japanese yen as a standard edition. Studio WIT will contribute to some of the animated footage in the game. Directing the animation is Garou Sesha. Taoru Ookubo provides the character design. Both have worked on the previous instalment of the game. Tetsuro Araki (Shengeki no Kyojin) worked on the different character poses.
Although some sites report that Shingeki no Kyojin was the first anime project of Studio WIT, it was not so. In fact, they have worked on Guilty Crown – another hit series – under the name of Production I.G Studio 6. All Sengoku Basara anime adaptations, Kimi no Todoke and Le CHevalier D’Eon are other of the team’s past works.
