Short Piece Previews Released (Video)

FOUR promotional videos were released for the upcoming new Short Piece anime project. The production team includes Akira, Steamboy’s Katsuhiro Otomo and more notable people from the anime world. You can see the four pieces’ PVs below and enjoy the lovely classic Japanese stories they preview!

GAMBO is a work by director Hiroaki Ando and screenwriter/concept creator Katsuhito Ishii. Character design is by Summer Wars and Evangelion’s Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. Promises violence and mystic events.

Hi-no-youjin is a project by director and screenwriter Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira). Its main roles will be played by Saori Hayami (Owaka) and Masakazu Morita (Matsuyoshi). Character design and video concept is by Hidekazu Ohara. This story revolves around a tragedy that engulf Edo and the many people who live there.

The third movie is Tsukumo and it is by director and screenwriter Shuhei Morita (Freedom) and character designer Daisuke Sajiki. Aoi Yuuki will play the lead female Komachi Sorimono while Takeshi Kusao will voice the male protagonist Kaeru Hebisakka. The authors present to us one man’s mysterious dreamworld and the creatures that come along.

The last director that will participate in the collaboration is Hajime Katoki (mecha designer in many Gundam projects). It is created upon the original short story by Akira’s and another collaborator on Short Piece Katsuhiro Otomo. This anime is entitled Buki yo Saraba.

The project will be released in Japanese theatres on 20th July, 2013.
