The New York International Film Fest has announced that Wolf Children (Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki) has received the audience award, just a month after Mamoru Hosoda’s movie premiered in the US.
New York International Children’s Film Festival (NYICFF) finally released the official list of winners from Sunday’s award ceremony. Surprisingly for some companies, but obviously not for the movie-goers, the Japanese fantasy movie Wolf Children was awarded the audience award.
Because of the love for the movie, the film was also projected during the event. The viewers could listen to the original Japanese cast and read the English-language subtitles. Other Japanese movies shown at the ceremony were Koji Masunari’s Uchuu Show e Youkoso as well as Goro Miyazaki’s From up on Poppy Hill.
The award, however, was shared by Hosoda’s project and the Taiwanese movie Starry Starry Night.
