Ghost in the Shell: Arise Project in Detail (Video)

During a special event on Tuesday, the production committee for the upcoming Ghost in the Shell: Arise project announced some anxiously expected information including cast and staff. A trailer that is nearly two whole minutes in length is available for you below along with the production details!


Ghost in the Shell: Arise will be a 4-part-long project where each of the episodes will have theatrical release and will be with a length of 50 minutes.

The first part of the saga will come out on June 22, 2013 and a special Blu-ray Disk packaged with a script-book can be bought prior to the premiere from the cinemas that are participating in the project. The special bundle will cost 8,000 Japanese Yen (about 63 Euro).It will also be available in stores four days after the movie’s release.

The story of Ghost in the Shell: Arise will focus on the life of Motoko while she was still a child and a young girl, when she was still growing as both a human being and as a fighter. The action takes place in 2027 and her life as a member of the ‘heavy cyborg’ 501st Army Secret Unit.

Apart of her roles in Kara no Kyoukai (as main character Shiki Ryougi), Kuroshitsuji (as main character Ciel Phantomhive), Nisemonogatari (as Oshino Shinobu) and others, Maaya Sakamoto was also the voice of the little girl that was heard at the end of the first Ghost in The Shell Movie from 1995.
