Aquarion EVOL Licensed by Funimation (UPDATED)

Aquarion EVOL came out in Japan this January and ended in June after a successful 26-episode-long season. The show has been licensed now by Funimation Entertainment for a North American distribution. The rights bought cover streaming videos.

The news was first revealed during Statelight’s panel at Otakon earlier today.

The story of Aquarion EVOL revolves around an entirely new cast and characters as well as a new alien enemy force. The mecha are also innovative for the story. It all happens 12,000 years after the original series by Shoji Kawamori.

Please don’t mind my being late, here is the full list of new acquisitions by the company:

* Fairy Tail Season 2
* Fairy Tail – The Movie
* One Piece Season 5
* One Piece Film: Strong World
* Aquarion Evol
* Akira
* Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar
* Tenchi Muyo! franchise

Also acquired additional rights for:
