The popular manga Bakuman is ending this Monday, April 23, 2012. The last chapter will be published in Weekly Shounen Jump’s compiled 21/22 issue.
As shounen anime drop dead one after another, seems like Shueisha’s lacking in motives to keep its fans around the TV. The tendency is starting to transfer to their manga as well… or so it would seem as Bakuman is going to end in next week’s Shounen Jump.
It comes as no surprise to those of us who have read the latest chapters of the series, but I am certain a lot of you out there are feeling sorry for the end of yet another popular story that doesn’t centre around big-breasted schoolgirls.
The duo is urging the fans to be patient for a new adventure is going to begin. There is no current information on the project, but we all hope it takes on Bakuman’s place both in SJ and as the fan’s favourite.
Bakuman has been going on since 2008 and has 20 manga volumes (XVIII to come out on May 19, XIX – in June and XX in July). Various adaptations have been made, the most notable of which is the television anime series that took the fans by surprise and didn’t let go till the very end.
