Yey for all the die-hards of Rurouni Kenshin – a new animated version of the anime will premiere in Japanese theatres in December. According to the announcement, the story will be a new adaptation of the so-called New Kyoto Arc or the Shin Kyouto-Hen. Even though this story, originally depicted in the Nobuhiro Watsuki manga by the same name, has already been made into anime (as a part of the first animated TV series that lasted for 93 episodes with the last few tens fillers), it will be animated once more. This 2-spisode OVA will depict in detail the battle between Kenshin Himura and Makoto Shishio, but not as the last time! It will be shown from the point of view of one of the Oniabanshuu – Misao Makimachi. ( I know this has been known for quite some time, but since I came to your dimension just a bit after that, it was never posted…)
So, what’s the new this time around?
So, the new today is that you can be in the credits of Part one of Rurouni Kenshin’s Shin Kyouto-Hen by submitting your entry for a title of the OVA episode. Yes, if you make the right suggestion, you will appear in the official credits after the video itself for all the world to see!
You can participate by clicking on this link. (Japanese) and you should do it before November 13 (due date).
Here is also another image from the official site, that can make you either squeaky about the new animation or nauseous because of the lovely pretty boys on the cover… and the oddly standing fire effect.
Seems like the studio has an unsatisfiable hunger for money, sorry, since they are making a remake of their own story. Why would they make another OVA? Considering the vast success of Samurai X (Rurouni Kenshin: Seisouhen), it shouldn’t be hard to guess. We can just hope for it to be at least as good as the manga itself this time around. After all, I think you all know what people can do with Rurouni Kenshin when they drive off the canon and sneak into fillers… Meiji Arc?
